MITIS celebrates Vision-Month in December with the theme, “Sustaining a Culture of Caring and Creativity”. The celebration complements the DepEd’s Education Week on December 7-14 which aims to re-affirm the role of education in empowering the young to be productive citizens. It also aims to inspire every MITIS educator to do more for the students to ensure their future.
The major activities include a daily open house for parents, guardians, and visitors for them to appreciate the achievements of the school in terms of facilities and instruction. Visitors will have the opportunity to peek into classrooms on any class day.
Among the first parents who came for the “Treasure Hunt” on December 5 were Mrs. Veronica Yco, Mrs. Susan Barbarona, Mr. John Prior, Mrs. Angela Bezemer, and Mr. Jan Cornelis Bezemer. They observed actual classroom instructions and noted the progressive teaching-learning strategies employed by the teachers.
The faculty and staff will have a forum entitled Enhancing Personal and Professional Effectiveness on December 10. The forum is designed to empower them to lead and work in a community of teachers and students from diverse cultural, ethnic, national, and socio-economic backgrounds.
For students, the Student Coordinating Board (SCB) is sponsoring a film making festival which will highlight the school’s thrusts on academic excellence and character formation. The film-making festival was launched last December 4 by the SCB through the showing of a well- appreciated 15-minute film entitled 360 featuring the performances of SCB officers with the support of teachers Paolo Naïve and Michaela Flores.
The school will also feature its commitment to the outside community by donating school equipment and supplies to the Cupang Elementary School-Annex in Muntinlupa City. Students and school staff pooled their resources to make the donations.
Early in the month the school’s vision and mission statements and the school-wide learning results (ESLRs) were enshrined in all classrooms.
In his message for the month, Dr. Bienvenido V. Santos exhorted administrators, teachers, staff members, students, and parents .”not to put a limit to what we can learn, do, and become”. He added that this means “nurturing the spirit of innovation, stretching our capacity to create, and building and sustaining a culture of caring and respect for all students and stakeholders”.
The celebration is hoped to build a sense of community by encouraging school identity, fostering institutional pride and respect, acknowledging individual responsibility to the community, as well as ownership and responsibility for the school’s educational goals.
