Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) featured MIT International School (MITIS) as an exemplary school in its July 23, 2009 broadcast. The broadcast pointed out that, Korean families will find in MITIS a really good school for a world-class education of their children.
A week earlier, SBS representatives visited MITIS to interview key administrators, teachers, and students and to take video footages of classrooms and facilities. Among those interviewed were MITIS Founder-Director, Hyock Chu Kwon, school president Dr. Bienvenido V. Santos, teacher Phoenix Reynolds, and Grade 11 student Hyun Jong Yoo or Jeff (his adopted English name) as he is warmly called by his classmates and teachers.
The interview with Jeff highlighted his experiences in the school with regard to classroom instruction, the school’s culture of caring for all students, and his involvement in co-curricular activities. Jeff is a member of the MITIS Band and receives special training in piano under a Pianist, Sung Won Lee, who has Concerto Examen credentials from Essen Folkwang Musik Hochschule, West Germany.
Jeff is presently enrolled in the school’s Advanced Placement (AP) classes in English Language and Composition, Chemistry, Calculus, and Comparative Government and Politics.
The SBS citation which was part of the SBS presentation on international schools in the Philippines was welcomed by the MITIS faculty and staff as a strong endorsement of the school’s K-12 educational program.
